Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid, derived from soy lecithin and present in all cells, more precisely as a constituent of membranes, being found in greater quantity in the brain. 

Phosphatidylserine has been associated with normal brain function because neuronal communication, namely the nerve impulse, depends on the integrity of neuron membranes, including the myelin sheath, and it is known that, with advancing age, there is a reduced production of this phospholipid. 

Furthermore, this phospholipid mediates the release of neurotransmitters (since they are sent to the extracellular space by exocytosis), shapes synaptic receptors and proteins involved in various nervous responses.
